The coolest toy ever!

And that would be Buzz Lightyear to my kid.

For quite a while now, after he has seen Toy Story3, he had been bugging me to buy him a Buzz Lightyear toy. So I did, a small figure that moves its arm to do a karate chop when you click a button located on the back part of its body. But my kid was not content, he wanted a bigger one. Fine. So a few months back, I got him a bigger one, the talking Buzz, that says something like "I come in peace", among others, at the press of a button located on the front of his spacesuit.

Still, he wanted the biggest Buzz Lightyear. Now, I checked the price, and its over $50. Im not sure if I could spare that much.

Since my kid is so much into this character, I gave in to his request of a Buzz halloween costume. (Pics to follow, need to adjust file size).

And since I work in retail, the store came up with the top 10 toys for this season. Toy Story, I believe is one of them.

Another crazy popular toy is called Gogo dogs. Its a miniture dog, about the size of a poodle, that has the feel of the real thing. You can walk it around in a leash, it barks, and I think does other stuffs a real dog can do. For the last couple of weeks, we get inquiries for this item on a daily basis.

I would offer them the Cat version since it is what the store has. But customers like the dog more.

Two days ago, an older gent with his teenage son came to me to in quire about this.  He was helping a friend look for this toy as a Christmas gift to his little girl. Had to make several calls from different stores to inquire, but none has one on hand. He was a bit dissapointed, but thankful for the effort. The week prior, a mother with her daughter came looking for the same thing, all three of us, made the round of calls to different stores to no avail.

On a happy note, two weeks ago, a lady came all the way from the Westend of the city to pick up this toy in our store which she reserved. We were closing in 30mins when I got the call asking for directions to the store. Good thing she made it on time, had to stay with her on the phone for 10mins (maybe more) so she wouldnt get lost. And mind you, it was the the last two pieces, the other toy got sold the following morning.

Yesterday, when I just started my shift, a lady came inquiring for this toy. To our surprise, she had it reserved. Found out later that a full skid came that day waiting to go on display.

This reminds me of a similar scenario some seasons back, when it was Tickle Me Elmo that was the most sought after toy. And then there was Cabbage Patch dolls.

I feel sorry for those who inquired earlier whose kid want this toy as a Christmas present. Hopefully, you can phone the store again anytime soon to reserve, this stoy goes out of stock really fast.
